Music & Meteors: The Perseids
Watch the year’s best meteor shower paired with a live musical performance.
Thursday, August 13th | 9:00 pm – 1:00 am
Every year, the Earth passes through the dusty trail of the Swift–Tuttle comet, leading to the Perseids Meteor Shower, which NASA refers to as “the best meteor shower of the year.” During this time, debris from the comet enter our atmosphere and burn up, creating fiery streaks in the sky at a rate of up to 50-100 meteors per hour.
On August 13th, join Observatory staff and astronomers to watch this spectacular event, accompanied by live music for a magical experience. Classically trained musicians will perform astronomy-themed classical, pop and movie selections. All you’ll need is a chair or blanket, and your eyes and ears!
