This fun and engaging topic explores our space family. Learn about the planets and moons that orbit the solar system we call home. Students will also learn about meteorites and asteroids discovered at the George!

The Sky Tonight: Constellations & Planets
Students take an in depth look at constellations, lunar phases and learn when is the best time to view various planets.
Deep Space & Beyond: Universe Beyond our Solar System
What is beyond our Solar System? Learn how we are looking back in time when we see the light from stars today. Students dive into the world of the Hubble and Webb Space Telescopes to see deep space images like never before!
Classes for Grade Levels 4 – 12
Exploring the Sky: Telescopes & Tools
Students will take a deep dive into the tools astronomers use to explore the night sky, including telescopes, planispheres, star charts and sky maps. Participants will use their new knowledge to take part in various demonstrations!
Classes for Grade Levels 9 – 12 & College/Adults
The Colorful Night Sky: Life Cycle of Stars/Spectrum & Light
This engaging topic allows learners to explore why stars are different colors and what types of stars surround our world. Our astronomers will explain the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram and the spectral order of stars. Learn how stars are formed and what path they take.
Additional Details
One-hour daytime astronomy classes include a tour of the George Observatory research telescope.
Astronomy classes may be combined with an Expedition Center mission.
Groups may add a Discovery Dome show to enhance their experience.

Observatory tickets are offered on a timed and limited capacity basis, and must be purchased in advance.
Access inside the domes and viewing through telescope eyepieces is limited, and subject to availability weather.
